| STUDY AND ORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS |

Superior academic performance and scholastic achievement is directly linked to strong study and organizational skills. Conversely, the cause of poor performance can be attributed to what students do or rather do not do outside of school. Since every student is different there is no 'right' way to study, however, there are simple approaches and behaviors that are known to work. Our tutors take these concepts and filter them through a student's idiosyncracies to develop a mutually acceptable plan of action to improve and refine the student's study skills.
Learning to study and organize is comparable to learning how to ride a bicycle -- at first you fall and have trouble keeping your balance, nevertheless, with continuous practice, trial and error, and the presence of a patient teacher, you finally get it. Just like one never forgets how to ride a bike, a student will always be able to utilize and capitalize on the superlative study and organizational skills once learned. In actuality, the application of study skills stretches far beyond school and into college, work, and even family. Unfortunately, this area is often overlooked and seldomly developed in school; therefore, since not everyone has the innate ability to study effectively, sometimes a tutor can make a world of a difference. With that in mind, Excel tutors focus on building and improving productive study habits, time management and test preparation skills, as well as growing a student's capacity for effective organization, note taking, and outlining. We engage students to successfully use the information and resources available in order to consistently plan, prepare, and perform. |
